Manual Shift For Es Honda Trx400
Not to have both, the shifter has too much weight for the shift motor to turn everything over and shift. You can convert the over to a manual shift but the transmission gear are different between the foot shift and electric shift so there is always that 'chance' of damage. The electric shift gears are designed like the newer 500 gears (just do a quick search on 1st gear problems) and the foot shift models are designed like the older machines, very seldom hear of a transmission problem in a 300. Is it possible to retrofit a manual foot shift to an ES model? I understand they come with a manual shift tool and was wondering why you couldn't just buy the manual shift pieces and install to have both.

All I can find about ES honda's not shifting is the angle sensor. According to my service manual, 6 blinks is indicative of a ECU fail safe relay circuit. Is this possible?same thing i want to do, but do away with the ES entirley. I bought my bike 2nd hand with ES and thought it would be nice to try. I wish i hadnt.
It was so much nicer to be able to have a smoke or have a drink on the trail, or keep an arm around my daughters while i put around the yard and feild. As well as having more problems with it than i cared to deal with, a peice of mud behind the down shift button, or not being able to use my lights and shift at the same time cause my battery decided to take a crap one night. Or have the thing get stuck between gears and have to use the foot shift option anyways. So my question is; If I just use the foot shift will it continue to work? Even if it frys the ES components because i dont plan use it even again.
