Getbmwparts.com I paid slightly more per window ($320) than GL did. Took about 2 weeks for them to order from Germany and ship to me. Anyone who orders from them should remind them (via email, since they don’t do biz by phone) to pack it extra carefully with full bubble wrap cocooning of the glass, full length styrofoam panels, and fragile stickers. Two of us had to reorder panels after they cheaped out the first time and the glass arrived damaged.

My indy charged $400, after initially warning it could cost more because he intended to go extra slowly to avoid damaging tabs or weatherstripping. Came out flawless. I almost asked for a deeper discount for hooking him up with the newtis.info link (which I would have used to send a couple of you a case of your preferred beverage; thanks again). I just posted this update in a wind noise thread: I've been able to drive my X3 at all speeds with the new acoustic glass front windows installed, and it was definitely worth the time and money. Around town, it's absolutely apparent something has changed - cars passing in the opposite direction are barely audible. The fit of the gaskets on the single-layer stock windows made it sound as if the door weren't shut all the way or the window weren't all the way up. On the highway, it's as if the side-view mirrors have disappeared - the swirling/buffeting wind noise that was very obvious at speeds of 60mph and above is no longer noticeable and it remains this way until road noise (which it doesn't/can't attenuate nearly as much) becomes the dominant sound (speed=me passing all other cars.) If I'd had the opportunity to test drive X3s with and without acoustic glass before my order, and if the option had been available in the US, it would have been a no-brainer.even at the aftermarket price I paid.

Until very recently it has been possible in the UK to get an on-line manual from the my-bmw site on a PC but this is no longer available. The US site mentioned above will not accept my UK VIN (I get a message 'The Online Owner's Manual for this vehicle identification number (VIN) is currently not available'). The Driver's Guide app on Android provides a customised manual for the vehicle (and includes the i-drive functions) but I would prefer to be able to view the manual on a proper screen rather than a phone.
